Bulls Gorge on SH10 in Northland, New Zealand has been the site of many accidents over the years, with police frequently requesting that motorists drive defensively when travelling through the area. This crash record, and a number of fatalities prompted action from the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA).
Work began in late 2010 to improve the sharp corners and steep gradients through the gorge, by replacing them with a smoother, wider highway with improved shoulders. ArmorWire roadside cable barrier system was chosen as one of the finishing touches to the realignment. A Valmont Highway distributor, CSP Pacific, has published a project case study.
